Beignet Fest’s Kids’ Village to Feature Sensory Friendly Activities & Pelicans Basketball: Ochsner Hospital for Children to sponsor the Kids’ Village for the second year

New Orleans, LA (September 19, 2017) – The 2nd Annual Beignet Fest will once again feature a Kids’ Village, with both sensory friendly activities and fun for all young attendees on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10AM – 6PM at the Festival Grounds at City Park. Ochsner Hospital for Children will sponsor the Kids’ Village for the second year in a row.

“We’re thankful to be able to partner with Ochsner Hospital for Children again,” said Festival Founder and Event Producer Sherwood Collins. “The Kids’ Village is an essential part of what our Foundation is about, and with the help of Ochsner, we’re able to really bring something spectacular to fruition.”

Like Beignet Fest 2016, this year’s Kids’ Village will offer a sensory tent for children with developmental delays as well as a story time area. Younger revelers will also be able to make arts and crafts, play corn hole and giant jenga as well as many other activities. For the more active kids, Ochsner is also providing hurdles, jump ropes and other recreation centered on its “I Can Do It” program.

As a special treat, the New Orleans Pelicans, in partnership with Ochsner Health System, are creating an adaptive training course with double shot basketball. Through the myriad of activities, Ochsner hopes to create a fun and safe environment for all children attending the festival.

“The Ochsner Hospital for Children team is passionate about Beignet Fest and the Kids’ Village,” said Vice President of Pediatrics at Ochsner Health System, Thomas Harris. “Caring for children and families is so important to us, as demonstrated through our ongoing outreach programs and the upcoming opening of the Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development. We’re proud to partner with an event that not only provides an opportunity for all children to celebrate, but supports critically important causes throughout the city.”

Once again, proceeds from the festival will benefit the Tres Doux Foundation with a mission to celebrate, embrace and enhance the lives of children with developmental delays and disabilities by presenting them as whole beings, and to support organizations that do the same.
